To begin with, let us take again a quotation of professor H. Koepf (1980) :

" Each form of agriculture is not only different from the others, it also has many common points with other agricultures. The description of biodynamic agriculture thus includes three aspects :
    ● It holds account of the knowledge and the "practical " know-how of every agriculture which results as much from the tradition as from research.
    ● It includes the bases of alternative agriculture. A considerable pionner work of for the development and the application of its bases was carried out since the years 1920 by the farmers and gardeners working in bio-dynamy. A great part of these results became quite common today of all agriculture and alternative agriculture in particular (example : use of the liquid nettle manure like fertilizer)
    ● It comprises specific practices biodynamics, a particular organization of the agricultural company and the anthroposophic base of a science of the alive phenomena. "

The scientific approach of Rudolf Steiner on which biodynamic agriculture rests, can be described as écological/qualitative approach in opposition to the analytical/quantitative approach of conventional science. This approach is ecological to the full extent of the term, since it includes all the terrestrial and celestial forces which influence the life. It is qualitative in its study of the alive processes.
